The Mark Appears

Walk Towards the Journey of the Stick

Season 1 – Episode 1: The Mark Appears

There was nothing extremely interesting in the city. The night was the same as it always been. And years go by he still believe his life would remain as plain as the lines that shaped him. A man of stick, a stickman, faceless and unnoticed blending into the world where darkness seems harmless. But destiny had a different plan for him, it has a way of reaching into the most unlikely of lives. On one bright night, the moon radiate a light brighter than your future that carved a glowing mark into his chest showing a symbol that would drag him into a journey far beyond the realm of the known.

This is where his story begins, a beginning of a walk that would stretch beyond darkness and even beyond death itself, do you have a seatbelt? I think it’s time to use it

The night had a smell of rain. John stood in the narrow alley where he often hid after a street brawls. The situation that he is, made him a fighter he didn’t choose this lifestyle survival demanded it. The city was harsh and being small made it worse, you had to prove that you exist even if only through the echo of a punch

This night was different his fists didn’t win him freedom but instead gave him a curse

As he pulled up his tattered shirt, a faint glow pulsed across his chest, he didn’t pay attention thinking it was a burn from his previous fight. But he notice that the burn refuse to fade, sharpening itself into a rune with three intersecting lines forming a shape both beautiful and terrifying.

His legs were shaking stumbling back against the brick wall, breathing heavy.

‘What the……... what is this?” His voice cracked.

The shadows look into his fearful eyes and answered.

At the edge of the alley hearing movement ripple where no man stood, watching figures unform that is crafted of smoke and black flame, peeled themselves way from the darkness. Their eyes glimmered with hunger and taste. Looking at them you couldn’t call them a man or an animal, these are beings from the old far beyond the stick world could tell

One creature stood up and whispered without a mouth

“Lineborn…..”

John froze with disbelief, his natural instinct kicked in telling him to run. But as the nearest creature lunged the fire inside him ignited. His veins felt like lightning, his arms drawn by an unseen force. He swung not with his fist but with his energy that exploded like a white fire. The shadow led out a loud scream while scattering into smoke.

He fell to his knees shaken by what he witnessed, staring at his hand.

“What’s happening to me?”

Before he could have a chance to think another voice rose behind him

“This type of human, calm but heavy with power”

“You have been granted a gift, you are the chosen one. Whether you agree or not”

A figure tall in height stepped into the moonlight. Not similar to the shadows, this one carried a massive blade that glowed faintly blue, carved with the same mark that now etched into John’s chest. His presence alone was both reassuring and intimidating.

“Who are you?” John looked up and gasped

“My name is Jay. I’m a Hunter. And you…..” the man pointed at the glowing mark on John’s chest “….are the last Lineborn.”

As the shadows around them regrouped, their forms bleaming with rage, Jay lifted his massive blade and cut open a path for John to follow.

“Run if you want, hide if you must but listen up the moment that the mark was burned into your skin your old way has passed away and you have become new. You have a choice is either you learn to fight or get consumed by the veil.”

John swallowed hard while staring at the creatures that surrounded them, the alley that suddenly felt like a battlefield and the mentor who looked more like a stranger than a saviour.

The turning point of his destiny had begun
